Every client has different needs, so we give you the option to pick and choose elements of the build that suit yours.
Please go to our Submit your requirements form to get an estimate based on your particular needs.
Below are some of the choices that are addressed as standard.
Please be aware we are bespoke builders and deal specifically with giving you the studio of your dreams, and not just the modular clinical assembly that is common in today's market. We want this build to reflect your personal touch, so we make it our business to offer you the full catalogue of opportunities. Nothing is off the table until we have a definitive plan in mind through consultation. So feel free to express all your wonderful ideas with us, and let us build you the studio that works for you.
Foundations: We offer footings that are not only robust and strong but are an Eco friendly solution to reducing our carbon footprint. We use 98% less concrete than traditional slabs. With the adjustable plinth system we can allow the building to breathe, therefore reducing any potential for rot to the flooring joists.
Walls, Roof and Floors: All walls, floors and roof are structurally made from Timber. We either us kiln dried C24 or we use SIPS ( Structurally Insulated Panels).
Windows and Doors: We like to give you a choice of UPVC - Aluminium or Timber. We have standard sizes we can install or if you need a different size or shape, we are happy to get them made specifically for your studio.
We offer sliding glass doors, patio doors and bi fold doors to allow light into your studio space. We also option you with roof lights - a great way to allow a breeze to sweep through your space whilst providing you privacy and security.
Electricity: We have a great team of electricians that can arrange electricity supply to your new studio. Whether it be Inside or outside lighting, power sockets, telephone cables and data cables, we can provide you with the latest up to date electrical installation for you to get the most out of your studios potential.
Insulation: A big aspect of our work is designing a studio to be fit for purpose. Your Roof wall and Floors are insulated. If you want the best efficiency for reducing energy bills and are looking to use your studio all year round; then we are your builders. We offer the very best U values we possibly can so you can function your studio in the midst of winter - and still have a cool place to work in the heights of Summer. Our focus is designing the studio to enhance its natural energy whilst not escaping any unused energy the studio creates. It's all part of our "Building Science plan" at Living Green Studios.
Heating: Mostly we live in a cool climate. Therefore we install a low consumption electric heating system. You can even use your wifi to turn it on before you enter the studio - so you arrive in comfort every morning. They are non intrusive and a very important element to add to your studio. Heating is also a vital point to our building science and with the best U values achieved; your need for heating will be vastly minimal.
Flooring: You have a choice of Engineered flooring, laminate or something more industrial, for those using it for a gym. All timber flooring will be floating as it allows the building to adjust to temperatures.
Roofing: All our flat roof designs use Firestone EPDM roofing membrane. Firestone Rubber EPDM membranes offer unmatched resistance to UV radiation, Ozone, Alkaline rains and high or low temperatures. Recent studies show that the membrane has a life expectancy or more than 50 years, even when exposed to sunlight.
Roof water Control: We like to use Water-butts to store and utilise the water gained from you roof back into your garden. We are also available to dig for Soak-aways in your garden to collect water. Most studios don't collect a lot of water, given their size, but water management is also a vital piece to our building science and sustainable living plan
Plaster and painting: The use of plasterboard is generally used in the interior lining of your studio. Plasterboard not only assists in the insulation properties of the studio but helps in reducing vibrational noise and is a great painting surface. We use a tape and join finish as we find the traditional skimming makes the wall colder (as it retains moisture) and traditional skimming uses a lot of material unduly with the susceptibility of cracking more common then tap and joining. Of course if you would like timber panelling or something different we can arrange that too. As we are all about eco friendly sustainability at living green studios, we give a choice to the customer whether they would like to use organic paint. It's zero VOC, zero Solvent, zero Heavy Metals. It has 3 times more pigment than normal paints and they are made here in the UK.
External Cladding: We use Western cedar red (Grade 1 or 2) or Thermowood (Engineered pine). Your design can be vertical or horizontal. Please ask for examples of design options upon our meeting, but if you have a design in mind, then we can use the same on your studio.
Attached storage sheds: Storage is a must for most people. We can internally integrate your requirements for storage space in your design. It can be attached via a hidden external door in the cladding or internal cupboard space.
Connecting Water: Plumbing is something that can be very beneficial to the overall use of your studio. We can consult you with our plumbing team in order to meet your needs to supply Kitchens and bathrooms to your Living Green Studio.
Decking: Having a nice seamless traverse from your studio to garden is a priceless feel. Decking not only looks great but is an important area that allows you to address yourself prior to entering. Mud and contaminants on the studio floor is never a nice experience. Decking not only helps this passage into your studio but also adds an opportunity for mood lighting around your entrance.
There is much more detail to discuss whilst planning for your studio, we have listed a small amount of common requirements above. Living Green Studios are happy to discuss all options for you to be satisfied with your new space.
With correct consultation and consideration, we believe you can have the space you have always wanted in your garden.
